Hi, as some of you may be aware - my 3 year old has been really sick over the last week. She is finally making very good progress and I am happy with that her appetite is returning. However, no matter what I try I cannot seem to get her to eat any real quantity of long fibre. I have tried her with dry and soaked hay and haylage - to which I would say she has probably consumed one section in the week (fresh twice a day of course lol!). She is picking at grass ( not that there is a lot or any nutritional value) by day, and is now eating a good amount of her stud balancer, hi - fi and soaked grass nuts each day.

I just am not happy with the lack of long fibre going in.... any ideas? Anyone else had a similar problem in the past?

If she wont eat actual hay or haylage then you could try a fibre replacement, you have got her on grass nuts and hi fi cubes which you could increase or try a feed called Fibre Care (i think) as this can be used as a hay replacement and has other ingredients in that could help whilst they are convalesing.

Hi
My horse(29yr thbrd) can't eat hay well or senior feeds so I'm feeding Topspec High fibre cubes which can be soaked if needed. It works really well & he eats it no problem which makes a change as , typical thoroughbred < he's a picky feeder. Might be worth a try & if you contact Spillers direct they are very helpful
