I have got a new horse (if you haven't seen already) and he has long feet but never had them touched before. I have had him since saturday and since then he has let me brush down all four legs and pick up the front two I haven't pushed it too the back yet. Any tips on picking his back feet up? I have used a lead rope around the back legs of a horse who was quick to kick out before which I got some good results with. I am happy with the progress already bearing in mind that he is untouched. I am just aware of how long they are.
thanks

Really it does just take time and keep doing a little more each day. I bought an unhandled 2 year old with long hooves. I was really conscious that she needed a trim as soon as possible but it just took a little time. My farrier was great and he picked her hooves up and put them down again and then came out the next week to actually tackle them.
