Lots and lots of grooming- wipe the coat over when you have finished brushing with a tea towel. Also rug up well and feed an Oil- ie Linseed or something like that.

I feed baileys outshine and find it really works.

Also when you bath the day before, while he is wet put loads of absorbine or supreme show shine on and smoth it over the coat with your hand. (I have found these 2 makes the best)

Well it worked for mine and he had a dull coat winter coat when I got him, only because he wasn't brushed and still had his winter coat etc but within a 3 weeks his coat had a super shine.

Good old elbow grease for a few weeks, use Lincoln Total Groom Spray after each 20 minute grooming session and then bob a night rug on (use it about 3 times then just once a week) it brings all the dust and grease to the top of the coat which then rubs off onto the inside of your rug, your horse will gleam, however please remember not to brush all the grease out of his coat if he's going to be turned out without a rug during a wet April.

Stick him on CLOP supplement (cod liver/prebiotic etc) and feed Dengie Alf Alfa.

The most important thing is a good diet, nothing can substitute for good food, a healthy horse on the inside will shine on the outside and will have a natural gleam to his coat even if you don't brush on on regular basis, its just you don't get to see it yet because there shedding there scraggy coats, specially 2 year olds.

Just after a few weeks he had a shine

Alfa oil and baileys outshine but he might get a little 'hot' but won't need lots of elbow grease.
As I found out my horse looked brill but turned into a nutter
