I have bought a horse which is by Mayhill, but the breeders have only issued a bog standard BHS blue passport which doesnt list any of his breeding etc.

What do i need to do to get a new sportshorse or whatever passport, would i need to send some dna off or something? Thanks!

Once a horse is registered with a passport issuing authority then you cannot apply for one from any other PIA.

If your horse is eligible for registration with a specific studbook then you may be able to get your existing passport overstamped by that society, although you'd need to check whether the BHS allow this, and it would involve having your horse DNA tested.

Greedyguts that's no longer the case, the recent change in legislation allows the rescinding of basic passports for a breed society passport, DC just send the BHS passport with new passport application to the breed society you want to register your horse with and they will do the rest.

Ok dokey, i shall contact the stud then that Mayhill stood at as not sure who to register with, thanks!
