Bloody sodding pony...........it is a wee ****, seriously. You cant catch it - it will come up if you offer it a treat, grab it then run away.

He was making it hard to catch my horse so he has been separated from him. And now, my dad tells me that last night he got out of the field. How I dont know as pony is 11hh and 2 years old - so he has jumped a 3ft6 fence to get out to be with my horse when he was out with the girl who rides him. Not sure of what time, but they were out still at 8:40 as we passed them on the way into town.

My dad is going mental about the pony getting out (he is kept at their house), Saying that if someone dies I will go to jail etc etc.

But we have only 1 working gate to and from the field. And gates roundby the stables. So we cannot figure how he got out as dad said ALL the fence is up and secure and the gate was shut. He has dismissed the idea that pony got out as they went to put my horse back. But to me that sounds like the most reasonable thing - the only other time he has gotten lose has been when my dad bloody let him out by accident.

I can't make the field any more secure other than padlocking the gate!!

Any ideas - other than hobbling him???

Is it the keeping of another pony you cant afford or the actual pony itself? Mine escaped to get to grass so that was easily fixed (give him a field with more grass). Stallion fencing (but thats expensive)?

There is, but the girl who rides horse will have him away for 5-6 hours some times. Its just at neighbours tho. His field has plenty of grass - more than the other 2 in fact. And its the main expense of getting another - and then yeah, of having to fork out another £300 odd a year to insure/vaccinate and worm it. Nto to mention, we only have like jsut over 2 acres, its ok for a fat horse and a pony but I dont really want another neddie on it over winter.

I am getting suspect about it all though, the pony was only spotted in the morning, horse was back so he has his friend. I am thinking that maybe the field gate wasnt shut properly when horse put back, and pony pushed it open as if he did that then it would fall closed again - but not securely closed. So if they then went to get horse out, so pony would follow it - or just to let him in - then if the gate was just open, it is the kind of think they would stay silent about as it would have been their fault the gate was open when they put horse back. If that makes sense.
