Getting away from it all with the dog...

Wow fantastic suggestions, thanks so much! I’ve just got back from a lovely 2hr early walk with the dog followed by a lovely 2 hour back on the pony, so after a bit of lunch and maybe a nap I shall spend a happy afternoon looking through all the links and working out how many pennies I need to save!

Even if it's not soon I thoroughly recommend a trip to Font if you are willing to camp it is super cheap but that doesn't exactly fit the original brief.

I now have a long list of options written down, all of which sound fantastic. I’m thinking it will have to be spring of next year just to allow for pandemic craziness to hopefully pass, so it gives me time to look. Scotland is a long old drive but would be worth it if I could stay for a week and perhaps stop on the way up and back. To my shame, although I have explored a lot of the planet, I have never explored Scotland, so it’s a very tempting option with no memories hidden anywhere. I’m already looking forward to it!

A friend's in-laws own capel Coleman cottages in Pembrokeshire, have stayed there a few times and it's really lovely.
Oh yes Pembrokeshire coast is lovely especially is sea cliff climbing is your thing.

Thanks Clodagh, I do allow dogs in my cottage. Happy to provide more info if you want to head to Scotland BBP. My cottage is in Glen Etive in the Glencoe area. I am a walker rather than a climber, but know that bouldering and climbing are popular pastimes in the area.

A few other ideas for the Scottish Highlands. I am intending to head to these with my dogs in the near future when we are allowed out again.

And I stayed on this Estate last year and it was fantastic, so I'd like to head back.

There are a number of one bedroom cottages which will be cheaper for a single person.

A cottage recommended to me, but outwith Scotland so unlikely I'll ever go (despite it looking absolutely fab) is this one ...

I spend half my life looking at wild places (mainly in Scotland) to visit with my dogs so if I can be of any help, just shout!

I was hoping your place night be free for a cheeky break in September but is booked up for months ?

With my relationship status newly changed I’m thinking far ahead past the pandemic, whenever that may be, and pretending I might have some money. I’m imagining getting away from it all, just me and my dog. Somewhere where I can walk for hours straight from the doorstep, where I can curl up by the fire with a good book and the dog sleeping at my feet. Beautiful varied scenery. Self catering so I don’t have to leave him unattended. Maybe some rocks to go bouldering in (as I’ve lost my belayer). Any suggestions? Not many places are aimed at just one person so I know it won’t be cheap. But I can dream.

I have booked a Glamping pod in wales for september - although looking unlikey to be able to go due to Covid, I can't see the welsh wanting to open the border to the english after the way we have behaved these past few weeks - that aside it was just over £300 for the week on the doorstep of some amazing walking country. Otherwise look at parkdean resorts, book a caravan, they have pet friendly units, prices start at around £150 for a 4 night out of season break.
