Hi everyone,

I had my son just over a year ago and would love to get back into horse riding and am curious to know how anyone who has had kids got back into it again?

Am not sure if maybe am better just going back to a riding school or getting a part loan 3-4 days a week. I've had my own horses before my son was born and miss everything about owning horses. Mentally I feel like going back to a riding school is going backwards instead of forwards but am also aware my body has changed a lot from having my son. and my riding isn't the same.
Also, the mum guilt is real. I would love to part loan but am afraid that it might be too much and I feel so bad for having to leave my son.

My head is pickled, please help lol.

I'd start with riding school lessons and see how you go? Unless you are able to have childcare and go to stables when looked after them maybe something a bit more frequent. There are so many components to this as to what would work.

There are plenty of mums who manage to own with kids, but I struggled to split time when little person was little.

Am very lucky that if I was to part loan that I have family members to look after him.
It's just the mum guilt gets to me for leaving him to go and do something I enjoy.

Well that never changes. But you kind of have to accept there will not be the same freedom as before kids so compromises have to be made. If you are fairly efficient about your time it shouldn't need to take too many hours? Or bring a family member who is into outdoors and horses to hang out with you both down the yard.

You do need to look after yourself but there is now a balance to be had ( one that probably will never balance as long as children are at home 😉 )
