Well after having to cancel the lesson last week due to the snow, I finally made it to the riding school and got back on.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and within the half hour lesson I was cantering around like I'd never been off!

Glad I went and the horse was okay, a bit wooden but safe. Made me realise just how lucky I am to have well schooled push button horses to ride when I get back into it.

I was shocked at how weak my legs had gone and 'touch wood' my knee has held up..... although is a bit stiff now. I'm going again on Saturday ......

Ahh thats really good.
Its nerve racking when you first get on, but you soon realise what you're missing.

I broke my leg in 9 places in a riding accident last June, and got back on in November, and it was the best thing I ever did.
My broken leg is now a distant memory, probably because it no longer hurts lol

Good luck and keep at it x

Yeah it was Moggyinmanols, I almost lost my foot, and have a lot of metal work now keeping it all together.

But it was a bit like childbirth, hell at the time but once its over the memory fades x

and I know what u mean kipper1 about sore legs when u first ride again, having done absolutely no kind of exercise in 5 months, never mind riding, my legs were left so sore I was still struggling to put them together 3 days later lol

Did you have a 1 to 1 lesson? I did, and had a good chat with the instructor first so she knew about my accident, and that really helped.
At the time of going to the riding centre, I really didn't know if I'd be able to get back on again, I just knew I had to try. Fear did grip me as I got on and for the first 5 mins, but just nerves after that, then by the end of the hour I was beaming.

One thing I know for sure is it takes a lot of guts to get back on after a serious accident, and we do it partly for our horses, and for the love of riding and not wanting to give up a big part of our lives.

Best bit of advise I could give you kipper from my personal experience is do everything at ur own pace and what you feel comfortable at, dont let anyone push you beyond what you feel you're mentally ready for yet, do that and you will go from strength to strength x

Missyme totally agree with you I rode again for the first time in October following a spectacular fall and injuries in September 2008.....It was just something I had to do.

I do need someone who will push me a little bit as given half the chance I would have not got out of walk till this March!

Well done Missyme, you would put some of the others

in the shade and again well done kipper1. we all would like to know how you get on each week. I must admit I get blisters on my bottom when I've not ridden for some time, so will be stocking up on some pain killers and ice packs and a plastic air ring to sit on Heh heh
