:mad: Well the cob has now been for sale a month now and not one person has been to see her!!!:(
She's been advertised on all the usual free sites but now i'm thinking i'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay to advertise her on Horsemart or similar.
Can't understand why no one has called, she's not a novice ride and has a few small issues but nothing a confident rider can't deal with & she's a rock bottom price to reflect this.:confused:

And if anyone else asks me if i'll loan....GRRRR! No! thats why i've put 'no loans please' on the ad!

On the plus side my sec a has gone to his new loan home this weekend, so at least thats one less to pay for! :rolleyes:

Sorry you are having trouble selling but I am afraid that this may be due in part due to economic climate, and that the market is saturated. The only advise I can give is to be 100% honest and be realistic with your price.

I have always sold horses via Horsemart, usually within a week, and think they are good value especially as ad stays live for 4 weeks, so certainly worth the investment.

What a shame the powers that be won't allow you to post the ad here for us all to advise!!!

Had 1 viewing which went fab, for them to decide to not bother cos he can very occasionally have a bit of a wobbler hacking, which they knew before they came & then never even took him out to see! Grrrr!!

Mines been up for about a month too but is on all the paid sites (including H&H) - I'm was just presuming its cos he's a high end comp pony that I'm struggling, but it looks like everyone is in the same boat.

I think it would be worth you putting an ad on horsemart or on www.horsesandtack.co.uk, they have an offer on at mo & ads are £4!!

Well, I'm buying and I'm already fed up with people not removing the adverts, when the horse is sold! Seller's not bothering to answer my emails and have no number to ring them on! Sellers advertising horses with rubbish photo's and not including basic info.

Sorry that turned out to be a bit of a rant...

Good luck with selling, I always look on Horsemart, Horsequest and Horse Deals (if that helps?)
 
im in the same boat, trying to sell my cob gelding (horse in siggy) who just needs a confident rider as can be a bit strong but is no bother for a more experienced rider, he has been up on the free websites too so i was thinking horsemart as well, as it is propbly the most popular and most checked site. again, not up for much money. i think lots of people expect cobs to be first horses so can be put off or think something is wrong with the horse just because it isnt an easy cob, this is how you weedle out the wrong people for your horse as an experienced person is more likely to know this isnt always the case!

it is frustrating selling properly as my last horse i sold via a forum so they knew alot about him anyway ive just had the divvys asking for loans and the typical teenage responses, hes goregous can i have him...sighhh!

Of course, easily, that's why he's advertised at 14hh!!!!

If it helps any, I tend to read "needs confident rider" or "no novices" as a euphemism for sharp, difficult horses and that would put me off in an ad. There are so many ads that don't say that, they may not be being 100% honest of course but it might be better to explain a bit more about what you mean, or explain on the phone.
 
Thanks everyone - think i'm going to try Horsemart.
I'm selling for a friend as the cob is too much for her 13yr old daughter so obviously we want a quick sale to the right home so daughter can get a new pony to enjoy the summer with.
So frustrating :(
Wish i was buying - loads of nice horses at decent prices right now.
 
Good luck, I've just bought and the not a novice ride does put you off ringing much better if its explained why.
 
Have tried advertising our boy, black in sig, very smart little comp horse. Had some interest but as soon as you say you are in Cornwall...........poof............all interest gone!
 
People who are struggling to sell, it could be your adverts, honestly your wording and photos make all the difference, also you are better off using a paid website.

I had mine on Horsemart and had 2 viewings from it, neither of which were suitable, popped her on the pony club website and the phone didn't stop ringing, she is now sold subject to vet and I could have sold her twice over and she is not a novice ride (I did not word it as 'not a novice ride' in my advert, I will never write that in an advert because people immediately think lunatic)

If you want me to look at your ad PM me, it could be the wording putting people off.
 
Posie, I'm after a youngster, freshly backed would be good or there abouts. Smart, no tb's, for eventing, must pass a 5* vetting, 16.1hh to 17hh.

Do you have one?

i've had my mare advertised on Horse deals and PC for 1 week, not a single call.

If anyone could give me advice on my ad i would really appreciate it.

Gutted just sold my tricky tbx and looking for coloured cob that is fun and forward going and u are all miles away :(
 
I am looking to buy in a few months and can't seem to find anything I can afford as I have started browsing to see what is about, I don't know if I'm just being unreasonable. I would like to pay 1500 absolute max hopefully including at least some tack!

I would like something 16hh+ middle sort of weight, really not that bothered about type just don't really want a reeeally hairy cob, ISH or some sort of ID X would be good, needs to carry 14st odd! As long as it can go out on the road reasonably safely (a few spooks I can deal with, don't mind strong or even bolshy on the ground) and generally hack, with some potential for some sort of local shows then I don't mind if it turns out to be weaker in some areas as I can work to whatever strengths as I don't really know what my own are yet!

I have been looking on Horsemart primarily and sometimes on Horsequest, where else is good to look?

P.s. I like adverts that seem like they have been written for the individual horse and a bit more time has been spent to put in detail! Not just good to shoe, box, clip etc, for example I saw an ad on horsequest that listed some pros like 'what's good about .....' and then 'what's not so good about...' which I thought was quite refreshing. The majority of the ones I've been looking at are good to hack alone or in company, I'm a bit skeptical about that :-/
 
mandwhy you are really going to struggle to get a horse with tack for 1500! Decent tack will be worth near 1k, so the horse will be rubbish most likely for that sorry to say!
 
in the same boat, selling my partbred AQH filly, she is every girls/womans dream horse, palomino and the most absolutely sweetest of natures, problem is im getting lots of 'is she broken in yet' 'will she suit my 7 yr daughter for leadrein' and the such....... makes a already sad task much sadder :-(
