Getting grease out of breeches

I was a muppet on Sunday, after unhitching the trailer I accidentally brushed against the tow bar on my car whilst wearing my nice cream coloured competition breeches.

Does any one have any ideas how I can get the grease and dirt out of my breeches please?
 
Firstly I'd check the wash-label to see what you can and can't do!!! :)

Then I'd bung them in the wash and do them in biological washing stuff........... you may have to repeat the wash until the stain fades.

Sorry don't know of any other remedies!

But there's probably a good old-fashioned remedy that someone on here will come up with!

Seem to remember......... from a long long way back when I did Chemistry at school; something about "Carbon Tetrachloride"??????? being good for getting rid of grease; one used to be able to buy "cleaning fluid" in shops but Elf and Safety stopped anything really useful from being sold :(
 
Thank you everyone. I tried a lovely conconction of olive oil and saddle soap and then used washing up liquid. The grease is out, however I still have to try and get rid of the dirt. A few more washes coming up me thinks. I have until mid Jan now before the next (serious) competition.
 
In France we use Savon de Marseilles, a block of pure soap, on subborn stains. You may find in in waitrose?
Been there and done that on tow hitches, can sympathise, good luck.

This usually works I leave it sitting a while before washing.
Flash gel if you are really in trouble but test first it may fade the colour .
 
You can't beat Swarfega for grease stains, I have even used it on a silk shirt. Rub a generous amount amount on to the stain on dry garment, then into washing machine - magic!
