My two fleece rugs are covered in hair, and short of putting them in the washing machine as is, and bunging it up, does anyone have a way of removing said hair.

Washing doesn't remove all the hair anyway.

I bought myself a special scraper at Windsor, which is called "the AMAZE brush". It works an absolute treat on numnahs, fleeces etc but I would caveat this that using it a heavily haired rug sounds like a lot of hard work. I also use it on sofas, door mats (the ones that are supposed to get all the mud off my dogs paws ...ha ha) and even after hoovering, it stll gets a double handful out. It cost me £10.

Wow that sounds fab, have just found one on ebay for 9.99 free p and p and wahhehhhh one is on its way to me lol btw they have more available x

I found that washing didn't get the hair off, therefore it didn't clog the washing machine, though you could wash it in a duvet cover as a precaution. BUT, shoving it in the tumble dryer had it sorted, but you do need to keep checking the filter because it'll fill up in no time.

And it comes out lovely and soft as well! :D

I've got a big orange zip-up bag which is specially for stuff like rugs, numnahs etc. You just bung said item inside and chuck it in the wash and because the hairy item is contained in a bag you don't get any hairs clogging up your washing machine! Brill. I think Robinsons do them, I got mine at the local tack shop. Well worth buying.

I am officially an idiot. I recommend a wet rubber glove to get hair off of short coated dogs in my pet shop. I just hadn't thought of using it on my rugs, doh!

I wil have a go tomorrow. Thanks Spaniel.
