I've got an odd one: after a windy wet winter, there's lots of odd bits of hay stuck to my rough tarmac hard standing and driveway. Sweeping with a normal yard broom won't shift them, and I don't have a pressure washer (am also on a well with pathetic pressure anyway). Any ideas how to get the tarmac clean again? Is there some sort of special broom?

I have been known to 'Henry' hay from my parents tarmac drive in the past. Not such a great idea if it has loose stones though but works well on newer tarmac.

No idea but got to say that mane on your horse in photo is awesome ! How the hell do you do that?

Excellent; I live next to a B&Q and may pay them a visit!

Princess16, the mane is dead easy: use the comb to divide the mane into sections, put a plaiting band around each section. Then divide each section in half, and put each half in a plaiting band together with its neighbour from the next section. That gives you a new row, offset from the original by 1/2. Divide each of these new bunches in half, and put each half back together with its original other half. That gives you a third row, back under the first row, and gives you your first set of diamond shapes. Continue until you run out of mane, plaiting bands, or patience. Takes about 5 mins tops.

i use a leaf blower

yes it does you will have to scrape the wet stuff out of the bag it tends to cling to my bag. Mine has two settings to blow away & suck up. The blow away setting is a little stronger but can blow the rubbish in a corner of the yard and then you suck it all up. I should have got a cordless version so I could have sucked up acorns made the job easier !

We have two, one with a bag and one without, the one without is for the tidying of the yard, instead of sweeping and its a

Stihl BG56 C-E Petrol Blower

Great for tidying up round the yard and powerful

Corn brooms are really good for uneven surfaces. We've got a lot of rough concrete in some of our stables and bits of the stable blocks (my current stable has quite a good floor thankfully) and a lot fo people get very good results with a corn broom
