Getting horses used to ear masks

Bought my horse a couple ear veil thingies this weekend as his ears get eaten alive by flies, poor thing. It became very apparent that he hadn't worn one before now and although he was very good and didn't seem scared by them being on him, he was a bit confused and tried to shake them off.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get him used to wearing them? I don't want to just jam his bridle on over the top of them if it's going to make him anxious.

Put it on in his stable and give him his dinner, I expect he will soon forget about it.

Ive always just put the bridle straight on so they don't shake them off. You'll probably find he forgets about it once working
