Was expecting to have it by the weekend but its looking less and less likely....

Crikey - I'd be getting impatient too. I bought a saddle from ebay the other week and it arrived within the week.
(Sadly its too narrow so its going back on ebay again!!)

Hmmmm, I don't know. That would be very quick if you'd have had it by now. If you allow 2 days for postage of your cheque, the person then has to bank it (can be up to 7 working days), assuming she did it the day after receiving it.

Then they have to package it up and get to a post office so I would have allowed it to arrive by the end of this week. If not, then perhaps email/call them at the weekend? I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

Has the cheque cleared your bank yet? I would check that and ask the seller when it was being posted. If its not cleared then you should check with the seller that they've actually received the cheque. Either way you must correspond with the seller.

They have received the cheque and said they would send it once the cheque had cleared.

It does have to come from Scotland to Kent but still, i wouldn't think it should take this long!

In that case I would ask them when they are going to send it - it takes 5 days for a cheque to clear. I've just sold a saddle and it was delivered the next day for less than £20 - the distance shouldn't be an issue. Good luck.

Well if it doesn't appear by Friday, i think they may be getting some bad feedback from us as i'm not very impressed.

This is the first time i've bought something on ebay too.

Hate to sound negative but I'd be worried they weren't going to send it at all - there's a lot of conartists out there..you need to be careful. I hate bad ebayers, my dad's always complaining about them. Is there anyone who runs ebay that you can contact to get the seller to hurry up? Or find out if it's a con?

Good Luck, hope it arrives soon

I am worried. Will have to email/call seller this evening and maybe speak to someone at ebay too.

Worst thing is she had the cheek to label us 'non paying bidder' because the sale ended on the weekend, and we didn't check emails over the weekend and didn't send the cheque off until the Monday.

If by any chance you are reading this i'm sure you know who you are. Send my damn saddle.

I must agree with saskia, if you have paid by cheque and sent the cheque on 26/27 Jan, they might not have recived the cheque until the friday , so in effect may not have cashed the cheque until 04/02/08, then taking a good 5 days to clear, it would only be sent in the next few days.
Have you seen the money go out of your account?, have you sent the sellar a message and has this been answered?

I do think that paying by cheque can delay the sending out of items by some time, the easiest thing is to ask the sellar directly - Have they sent it out to you and if so when. If you do not get a reply then I would be aliitle concerned.

ETS I paid for an item by paypal and it took over 3weeks to arrive. left messages , all ignored so I had no choice to leave negative feedback, the item arrived the next day and had only just been posted, but they in turn left negative feed back to me , asking what my problem was !!!.

Ebay a love hate relationship !

Heh!

It sounds like you probably just need to try and be patient for a little while longer..even if it is really hard.

And if it turns out you don't get your saddle..you can at least get the person kicked off ebay..even if what you really want to do is throttle them!

It may have not been received until the 30th the seller might work all day and not be able to get access to a bank as they might be remote where they live/work ..... unless the bank is hsbc it will take an age for the cheque to clear. Have the funds left your account yet?

I would email the seller asking if the cheque arrived alright and have they had chance to post the item and if so can I have the tracking number ...

Well i think the last we heard from them was that they had received the cheque.

Going to ask for tracking number tonight.

I've both bought and sold saddles on Ebay before and I always ask for payment by cheque - because if you pay by Paypal, the seller is charged 3% of the amount received

which in the case of a saddle is quite a bit! But I always wait for the cheque to clear which take 10 working days according to my bank. Bear in mind that I have to actually find time to go and cash the cheque at the bank so that may slow things down a bit as well! I would always try and communicate with the buyer as much as possible but sometimes it's difficult as I don't always have Internet access. So basically, be patient but let the seller know that you'd like the saddle asap!
