I want to get into showing.. Ive just bred a lovely colt.. Would love to show him but Im looking for some advice.
I come from a racing/hunting background so showing is new to me..
Hes 3/4 TB 1/4 Irish draught, coloured.
I want to know if hes good enough to show and where to start!:)

Hello, would love to see photos of him. You can start out by going to local riding club shows and getting the judges opinon to see whether you could and want to move up a level. It would also be good experience for both you and horsey. I beleive you could enter youngstock classes, coloured in hand classes, possibly young sports horse and when he's older perhaps hunters depending on bone etc

Any horse is good enough to show at little local level shows as there are always classes to suit alsorts- its the bigger club/regional/county shows that we would need pics for

Get him out to some local shows for the inhand youngstock and hunter classes and ask judges for feedback everytime!

Good luck

Hope that works.. pic of him..:)

Hey

sounds a nice boy- defo agree though pics needed. I would think you could go for youngster classes in hand. you need dark or light trousers opposite to your boys so they can see his legs. teach him to stand up squarely gradually for a longer length of time, just show in a snaffle bridle and if your not sure about his type go for a plainer one unless you can borrow from friends to try them? you can wear a tweed jacket or a waist coat with a hat, not ness hard one, could go for cap or I always like beagers, as long as you can run in them- same as shoes, defo need to be able to run in them too, maybe jod boots?

Good luck, let us see some pics xx

Thanks for all ur replys.. Ive added a album of him on my profile.. have a look and see what u think.. Hes still very young.. But I would rather get clued up now while hes small so I know what Im doing!:)

Thanks:) I like him to well at showing.. People have said if you dont have a name in showing u will struggle at top level.. Early days now.. But when its a new discipline its abit daunting...

He's very pretty! Just make sure when you start training him to lead that he learns to walk out with you at his shoulder, will make things much easier (not like the one I'm showing that has always been dragged round :( )
