I'm trying desperately to get Josie's mane over to the right side, or all on one side for that matter. The bottom lays to the right, the top flops to the left.

What's the best way of getting it all to lay over the right side? I've done the plaits thing, and it did work but was so time consuming as all her rugs have neck covers on them they went fluffy instantly. I've been using a wet brush morning and night, and it always looks lovely when I leave her, but then it's just flopped half and half again. It's still quite thin so there's not really enough weight to hold it over on it's own yet.

Would a little bit of gel look really bad? Any other ideas? xxx

I had the same problem i cake it in gel and dont plait it just put it in many band like 30 leave it for a week then it seems to just stay and for any little bits that go over i just gel down it looks fine xx

I have NO idea - B's mane has been plaited over (replaited twice) for 2 weeks, took the plaits out on Sat and already it's 1/2 and 1/2

Lycra neckcover me thinks?

It drives you mad doen't it? It lasted 2 days when I took them out before and looked so nice. A quick downpour and a shake and we were back to half and half. Even the neck covers dont hold it down as there's room to move under there.

A lycra one may be an idea though xx

Hannah's is like this now, but she has so much mane I have given up while she is in foal! She'll just have to look a scruff bag until I can get around to pulling it and thinning it out.

When she is not in foal, as my rugs have neck covers too, I dampen the mane and take it all to the right side and carefully put the neck cover up so it keeps it lying to the right. I kid you not, this worked an absolute treat last year with her and it all stayed firmly to the right hand side!

I am obsessive about making sure bailey's mane is squashed on the right under his neck cover but the second I do the neck cover up he shakes like crazy and it goes back on the left. If anyone has a good solution please let me know
