Getting money back off someone?

Someone offered me a lift to a show a while ago but then asked if I would sort out the entries as she was on holiday. Like a fool I did this and paid for both entries.
Needless to say, I got a call the day of the competition saying she couldn't go as she had been stung by a bee and could not move her arm.
As I had no transport that meant I couldn't go either.
Would you expect her to refund both her and my entry fees?

This happened 3 weeks ago and I still have not had any money back at all!

I know it was a stupid thing to do, I knew the girl was totally unreliable but how do i get her to pay up?

You've got absolutely nothing to lose! Ask her for both. If she says no, I'll only give you mine, then take that.

I think that you'll struggle to get your entry fees back, as that's a risk you take when you rely on others for transport. I would be pissed off, but don't think there is much you can do.

But I would give her a reminder that she is due you for her entries.

Try saying, oh by the way. The 'riding club?' won't refund our entries from 'whenever', so can you leave me your £xx when you are over on ?date?

Have asked her several times! She keeps saying she has no money - which means she is filthy rich!!
this is the real annoying thing! Her family owns at least 2 businesses and most of the property in the village!
It's just so frustrating, this entry fee is nothing to her but to me it's a week's keep for the horse!

Next time she is going for feed ask her to pick some up for you then tell her to knock it off what she owes you for the entries.
