Getting muzzle off

My girl has had her muzzle on all summer during the day and I take it off at night. She's now decided she doesn't want it on al all and she's managed to get it off each day for last couple of weeks. Now we know how & I wish I had got it on video. She simply lifts her back leg up up to her face and literally pushes it off over her ears. :)
 
Mine has managed to do it every night now for the last two weeks - I videoed it on Saturday - 13 seconds from getting in the field to getting it off. She doesn't get it over her head,though. She has learned that if she hooks the muzzle onto something and pulls a few times, the Velcro fastenings at the side will come unfastened. Fortunately our grass is losing it's richness now and she is in regular work, so as long as she comes in during the day I'm not too bothered. Will need to sort something out for next summer though!

My friends mare that I look after is good at getting hers off too. Have found that putting a fly mask on over the straps buys us a bit of time! The flies are really bothering her so she would have the mask on anyway.

Will definitely try the forelock trick!
 
mine started getting hers off so i put leather head collar on over the top that stopped her for a while, then she started getting the muzzle off but not the head collar so I set to work with the needle, cotton and scissors. the muzzle is now attached to the head collar, I stitched the side straps and chin strap to the head collar and removed the head piece from the muzzle. it has stayed on for a couple of months now

Friend at yard but a small clip on one side and so far so good it's stayed on. Not through lack of trying though. It doesn't stop her eating but I still feel guilty although it's helping to keep her weight at a good level.
