Ok, so i finally got a bargain pair of Ariat Grasmeres (last years style with a slight mark). They are really really comfortable when they are on, but getting them on is a bit of a nightmare! They are either quite narrow between the instep and the heel, or else its something to do with the lining scrunching just as my heel gets to the top of the heel of the boot. I had hoped they would stretch or whatever but so far, so not..... I've tried a long boot horn but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone got any tips?

Mine do that too - I had assumed it was because I had to buy half a size down to my actual shoe size. I will be interested to see what others say!

Though mine were perfect for the first year, unfortunately they seem to now rub my heel where they're slightly too small... :(

My Widermere's do that- Its so irritating. My first pair i took back after 6 months as the heel part want so bad i couldnt get them on and when i did get them on they would get stuck!
I have some new ones and i do use the long handle thing provided, which is a real hassle tbh as it means i cant take them on or off other than at home. Mine fit perfectly so its not that.

I have had 2 pairs of Grassmeres and have never had this problem. They are however about 4-5yrs old now so i may be they have changed the design as i do have this problem with my windermeres. It is sooo annoying to have to use the boot pull every time you want to put your boots on :(

What 'long handled thing provided'? Should i have something i haven't got? My boots are a really good fit once they are on by the way, and don't rub at all.

Thanks for the comment re my pic, that's my boy!!

I've had mine for about 4 years and they do they same, but a long handle shoe horn works for me, how about some talc sprinkled in or wearing pop socks?

McNally - what 'long handled thing' are you saying is provided? Should thre have been something with my boots?

I am another who just pulls, wiggles and stomps until they're on right! I had to get a size down that normal as my normal size swamped me but they were both tricky to get on. Once they're on they're beautifully comfortable though. I sort of push my foot a bit more forwards and try and get it over the back of the heel where it catches and then put the foot down. That probably doesn't make any sense though! Not used a boot horn but I think that would take up much needed space for my foot getting in!

I hold mine really tight and stamp my foot in.....they are like gloves when they are on though, and I am *really* excited that I have a new pair (new style- brown all over without the suede bit) to open for my birthday tomorrow :-D

.....I must remember to clean and protect these ones though.....my last pair look a little tatty where I have let the mud etc dry on them and it has cracked the leather....

Yup my grasmeres came with a black long handed thing which provided i use it makes them easy to put on. Without they are getting easier but still a bit of a struggle

Thanks loads to everyone for all this - first stop my local tack shop where i got my boots to ask about the missing shoe horn. Ive got a different boot horn but still can't get them on easily - maybe the real Ariat one is magic!! It's frustrating, cos they are so comfortable once i've spent ten minutes getting them on!!
