Hi all

I am wanting to get my horses back and saddle checked, im just wondering who is the best person to do this ie vet ect..

Only had my horse 8 months and before this i always part loaned horse, so never had to do this before?
Could sombody explain what happens and what sort of things they do?

Also can anybody recommend anyone in the south yorkshire area?

Thankyou

I always get the vet as most reputable, qualified "back people" or physios wont work on a horse without the vets consent. Saddle a reputable saddler :). Cant reccomend as not near that area!

For saddles I always use a qualified saddle fitter, you'll find ones in your area on this website www.mastersaddlers.co.uk or by recommendation. Regards checking my horse, I have used a McTimoney Practitioner for a number of years now. She's from Derby though so doubt she'll visit Yorkshire? You might find one for Yorkshire on here www.mctimoney-animal.org.uk

Agree any good practitioner will ask for permission from your vet :)

Ask your vet to recommend someone. I use a reputable equine veterinary physiotherapist. She knows my vet and she always discusses her visits with him (either I or she lets him know she's coming, then she discusses any concerns/issues with him by phone afterwards).

I personally wouldn't use a "back person" or chiropractor.

Just started mctimoney on my mare after using it on me. Definetely rate it, and far higher than physio as muscle tension is often caused by a underlying cause that physio cant solve. I use Kate Cox she is based in Barrow Upon Soar near me I dont know if she would travel to S Yorks or not but its worth asking her as she is fab :) she has a fb page human, horse and hound. she also treats PS and nikkimariets horses, nikki recommended her to me. :)
