Just dashed home in my lunchbreak to bring my pony in from his restricted turnout. Took him over the road to the arena for a little walk and a roll as he hadn't been rolling in his pen. He managed to break loose from me and spend the next 15mins bombing around the rock hard arena bucking and snorting and cornering at 90mph. Any underlying tendon injury will surely be screwed up now. 3 weeks of box rest possibly ruined. I'm dreading going up there tonight and seeing him hop out of his stable like he did a few weeks ago. I really don't know how I'll manage him if he has to be rested for longer, without a regular hooligan session he is a nightmare to lead off the yard. Feel a bit sick thinking about it.

(i have just read the bad month thread and realise there are a lot if people having a much worse time, but your own problems still get to you, don't they)

Oh blimey - next time put a bridle and lunge rein on him - much easier to control and if he does have a buck and a fart you will have more of a chance to hang on with the longer line. Fingers crossed for later ;-)

I hope his ok!

I know how you feel. I got a text from my YO saying my Horse had run through her gates and was going mad in the walk way which is really deep bog! YO got her in, but I spent the whole day dreading going up incase she had hurt herself :o luckily she was just a bit stiff and sore, I guess she tweaked something.

I'm kicking myself. I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to cope if he has to rest for longer. Both forelegs feel a little filled tonight but he isn't favouring either. Feel sick to my stomach, I won't get any sleep til I've seen how he is tomorrow.

How was he? When my pony pulled a tendon my vet suggested icing her legs so I got her those ice vibe boots and they did help. Where I am we don't have running water so you can't even cold hose so icing makes a massive difference. Worth a try even if you just bandage some frozen peas on for twenty minutes as an emergency measure if no one has any ice boots. Good luck!

I popped some ice boots on last night, we don't have running water either. I was absolutely dreading pulling him out this morning but he bounced out of the stable and his legs were completely down, clean, hard and cold. I've never been so relieved. Given he got some if the energy out yesterday I figured today was as good a day as any to get him back out in a proper paddock with his mate, and he was very good. I just need to leave work early to get him in before the dark and nasty weather winds him up. If his leg stays good on a weeks turnout the vet is happy for me to bring him back into work.

I was very lucky indeed. It doesn't help not knowing if he did have a tendon injury in the first place as leg got so swollen with cellulitis. But what he did yesterday should have lamed a sound horse!
