Getting rid of lice

Hi everyone, my Gypsy Vanner yearling seems to keep getting lice. I have noticed them mainly around his mane, neck and shoulders. I have try the lice and mice spray, also got a powder from the vets. It helped a bit but they just won't seem to go away. After treating him I disinfected all of my grooming kit etc but they seem to keep coming back. Does anyone have any advice that may help get rid? I read that clipping them is first step. His summer coat is taking ages to come through so I was considering it but do people clip Gypsy Vanners?

Have you used the powder on his rugs too (if he's wearing rugs at the moment that is)?

There's a spot on treatment for cattle that seems to do the job...can't think of the name for it but I'll find out and report back

Deosect works well. As you water it down it lasts ages, and is a long term fly repellent used monthly as well.

Another alternative is Coopers Fly Repellent plus. It works very well.

Yes deosect or coopers (as posters above recommend) both work well, coopers kills the eggs as well but still repeat treatment (deosect might as well but I didn't check)
