For some reason we've got a pigeon infestation at the yard this year, which is highly annoying. They're roosting in the barn housing the tack room, and also in the barn housing the stables....they're disgusting, smelly, dirty things, and I'm sick of finding feathers everywhere. Yard owner is very hands off, so doubt he'll know they're even there....anyone got suggestions of how to get rid of them? Not really practical to shoot them as they're so close to the horses.

The pigeons at my yard are a nightmare too; horrible, great big flying rats!! I find the worst thing is how they bathe and sh*t in the water trough so that I'm having to clean it out every three days

Luckily my YO is a little obsessed and has a little personal war/campaign going against them :D (for the sake of his crops and grain store) so he uses a lot of bangers and rockets to get rid of them. The girls are pretty used to the bangs now, so it doesn't trouble them. YO also encourage mates to come shoot them, which again, the horses are pretty used to.

Aside from that, I could offer you the hire of Popple who will happily spend entire days chasing them away on her endless mission to catch them! :D :D

I thought of the bird of prey thing too! I don't know anyone with one unfortunately :( Do you think the Trafalger Square guy would be expensive? Can't imagine YO paying...

Yay, bring Popple down :) Although they're a bit high up for her I think ;)

I have ornamental white fantailed "doves" aka pigeons;they are very pretty. They do have some bad habits of course, one is going off to other dove cotes and bringing back "a bit of rough",meaning coloured offspring!! Those are shot. The other bad habit is that three of them have taken over residence of an indoor school accross the fields, and actually SIT on the instructors head during lessons..oh the shame of it.
