I have this terrible issue with dandruff ...

Lol no! Log story short - black pony has sweet itch, controlled by rug but still likes to give his mane a good rub so this has resulted in scurf/dandruff. He goes to the Highland Show tomorrow - any tips on how to make it disappear overnight?!? He has had a good bath and conditioner added to mane and tail,he will be rugged again overnight and in a fully electric fenced paddock by himself so he can't even begin to itch. Apart from dying his skin black so it doesnt notice I need it gone!

Sorry don't have a good answer to your question but just wanted to wish you good luck at the Highland Show tomorrow . Coming from Scotland and having been at the show many times , it's a great show. Looks like it's going to be a cracking weekend ....... They probably won't notice the dandruff in the sunlight :-) PS do they still do these great roast beef sandwiches ?

Yup they still do the hog roasts and aberdeen angus burgers! This year they have the worlds biggest haggis there that they are chopping up and selling.

Thing about SI horses is everyone is different and many can't tolerate some shampoos/conditioner so it can be a bit trial and error. One we have had good results with is 'Dead sea Majik' It's a very gentle human shampoo that can be bought at Health food shops. You may not be able to obtain any for tomorrow but may be worth trying long term. It is good to keep horse/rug as clean as pos as that deters insects.
A quick tip for horses in general to remove grease/dandruff from coat is to put capful of detol in a bucket of warm water then damp a sponge and rub 'the wrong way' into coat. When dry brush coat 'right way' with clean body brush.
Good luck at the show.

Good luck at the show :)

Don't know anything that will get rid of scurf overnight but for future I would look at feeding a good quality mineral balancer - one of mine used to get really bad dandruff but since I started feeding forage plus balancer it's pretty much disappeared

Yes, Head & Shoulders works a treat. i use it on me, dogs, horses and all of us have no dandruff. I use it every day on me, on horse manes & tails regularly & do the dogs once a month. No ill effects, not greatly expensive and all scurf free.

The scurf is a side effect of sweet itch, not caused by scratching. I've found a balancer, linseed, turmeric and lysine to work well. He also gets a joint supplement which contains glucosamine which is supposed to help as well. Taking him off alfa A has had a positive effect as well. Doesnt help now, but might in the future :)
