Getting someone to stop interfering without being rude?

If you are tacking up correctly and it doesnt interfere with your horses way of going/bridle/saddle fit and you are doing everything your instructor told you riding/position wise, ask her to please leave you alone...I am a beggar for doing the same as siennamum...if there are keepers there, use them, etc etc...soz!

I think there could be two sides to these sorts of situations though. We had a REALLY interfering woman who has been chucked off three yards in less than a year. She was unbearable and taking sweet itch rugs off horses, feeding concentrates behind people's back etc etc. Sort of stuff that could potentially be harmful and was completely irrational (sweet itch rug taken off because she said it looked dirty. Horse left naked covered in flies and midges all day).

However, on the other token, we then got a girl who had never had horses, never had lessons, never even really ridden other than the odd sit on a few horses. She decided to buy herself a horse (well, she got given it free), and moved onto our yard. She literally had NO idea what she was doing. She turned her horse out in a stable rug in heavy snow, thinking they were waterproof. She didn't realise that you got different sized bits, or bridles. Hadn't even heard of colic (worrying considering she has a small child too), and fed unsoaked fibrebeet to her horse, then wondered why it was choking up lumps of brown stuff every night. Her saddle (which she bought off the peg without trying, or getting anyone to look at it) was literally pressing right down on the withers - que horse tanking off with her a few times. She then decides to go and buy a twisted snaffle because that's what she has read on the internet. Now, on numerous occasions myself and other yard members attempted to politely point her in the right direction and offer advice, which went unheeded. We then tried a little less politely, as by this point the horse's welfare was becoming a concern, but still, she wouldn't accept any help or advice and thought what she was doing was fine.
