I've recently bought an exracehorse who goes extremely well on the flat and i fancied doing some of the ex racer showing classes with her. registering her with RoR on friday to so i can do some of the qualifiers. Im previously a showjumper so apart from the obvioud you have to look spick and span tails pulled manes plaited what else do i need to do....
Can i wear a navy jacket with a navy velvet hat shirt and tie or does it need to be green tweed? Also will a Vsd saddle be ok to show her in to start with its brown and brown swade/swede (cant spell it) ? do i show her in a snaffle and plain raised nose band and browbrand or a velvet browband. she is quite dark bay and fairly chunky TB could get away with a working hunter class to. i was thinking red and gold would compliment her well ?

Any advice would be much appreciated as planning to trying a couple of local level classes next weekend :)

Thanks

Regards your dress, navy is fine and def shirt and tie.
Mane plaited, tail pulled or plaited. VSD saddle would be fine just make sure stirrup leather are long enough and irons wide enough as ride judge often is male. Snaffle bridle is fine as is Pelham with two reins or a double bridle. Coloured Browband is fine you just need to consider if your horse is a Hack, riding or hunter stamp as regards the browband.
Make sure your horse is ok with having someone else ride and they will be legged up and make sure your horse will stand for the conformation judge and also trot up.
The best bit of advice us keep an eye on all the others in the ring as not all of them will be 'in control'

Good luck :)

thanks for your help :) ill practicr her trotting up this next week and ill get a leg up onto her to make sure shes ok with that to.
