I do drive, but i'm insured on my mums car, so not technically my own

I walk up to the yard as its about a 5 min walk and 3 mins down (its a very steep hill

My mum wouldnt let me drive up as its not really a road and more a dirt track. though all the other livers do, but your best in a 4x4

I would take the bike up as it would take about 30secs to get back down to home, but even alot of the serious cyclists refuse to go up it as its thats steep lol

furthest i would travel is 10-20mins by car, but if my yard isnt where it is i would not be able to have my horse, as i could not afford to buy/run/insure my own car as well as the horse, and my mum uses the car for work during the day so getting there would be a problem if isnt wasnt a easy cyle or on a bus route
 
I usually use the car, either I am going to the yard on the way to or from work, or I am carrying stuff for washing or cleaning. If, for once, I am empty handed I will walk, it takes about 10 mines but does involve a short stretch of fast country road with no pavement and narrow verges. If my son goes to the yard to feed he usually cycles
 
I used to keep my horse 5 walking minutes away in a pretty poor yard. As soon as I passed my test we moved him to my present yard, which is 15/20 mins drive away down the motorway. I think distance isnt really a problem if you find the right yard and if there ever was a problem I could trust the other people at the yard completely.
 
The distance I travel to my horses is measured in steps. 10 steps to two fields and about 50 steps to the other fields.

If I was at livery I would be prepared to travel about 20 mins by car to a yard.
 
I can see my horses from my bedroom window, it is about 20 steaps for me to get there and that takes me to where some fields are, it is about a 2min walk to the stable block.

I wouldnt travel anymore then that now to be honest and hopefully wont have any need to

its a 5min drive or about 45 min walk for me due to very steep hills involved. I would expect it to take about 25mins to cyle as well because you would have to push bike up hill as far too steep to cycle up!

I have been up to 25mins by car from yard before and thats plenty for me. Perfect now being so close especially as work 40 mins away.

Oh and I normally either drive or go up in housemate's car as no point taking two cars up!

very very occasionally walk but it kills my legs (darn hills) so tend not to

I am so lucky.
Fields to the side, barns a few steps away from the back door. I wouldn't drive further than 15 minutes if I had to.

My horses are in field too. As they are not on a yard and I live where the weather gets bad in the winter, I need to have my horses at walkable distance, so when the roads are closed I can still get there. I'm only just over a mile from the field.
 
I cycle to the yard which takes about 7 minutes down country lanes. Occassionally I drive if I have something big to take with me (i.e. feed, rugs) but try not to as keeps me fit and saves petrol!
 
Our yard is a 15 mins drive and is off a busy dual carriageway. So that way you can only drive there really. The only way to cycle would take me probably nearly 2 hours and I would have to go all the way accross town then get onto the south downs
 
my yard is about 10/15 mins by car (13 miles there and back) - i could never walk/cycle as its up and down a huge hill on the north downs to get there!! I could never have them any further away than this - I have already given in after only one winter and am now having them turned out in the mornings for me!! They used to be at home and I work full time with an hours commute each way!
 
I have in the past travelled up to 10 miles from home and a good 20-30 min drive. Am lazy though now and drive for a living so the last thing I want is to be travelling a long way to do the neds, I also like to do a lot for them myself so often go twice a day.

Current yard is a good hike across the fields, pleasant but not efficient but easily cycled in 15 minutes and I like to use the bike when I can.
 
I usually walk about 40 mins, but I take the dogs cross country and home 15 mins up the road. I only drive if its late and Im pushed for time or have something to carry. Did cycle a couple of times but it killed my legs so gave that up sharpish
