I'm on a really small DIY livery yard which is great but the downside is nobody has a box or goes anywhere and there are no shows in hacking distance. I'd really like to get the horse I'm riding out to some shows, he's green but loads and travels and behaves well! Would it be really rude to go onto local yards and ask if anyone is going to shows and would give us a lift? we would definately pay 1/2 of the diesel (maybe more) and also help out with their horses on the day. Alternatively how much approx. is it to hire a box/trailer + driver for the day? I'm only 22 so can't drive anything (or afford insurance on a 3.5t) and his owner doesn't have a license. We are based near Liverpool airport. If anyone has been in the same situation or has any ideas please let me know :) thanks!

The problem is the minute someone takes money from you even for diesel they need a tranport licence. I would contact some of the registered transporters in the area and ask if they are going to any shows and if they have room, but this could be pricey. To hire a box for the day where I live is £90, but a local company does beach rides for £25 if you can fill the box, so its a case of ring around. Sorry I dont live near you or I would have given you some contacts.
