Getting White Bits White!

Firstly, always test patch first - especially on the pink skin!

Daz washing up powder is great, scrub it on with a water brush, leave for a min then wash off thoroughly and I mean thoroughly. Repeat as necessary!

Warm water, scrubing brush and washing up liquid, wash off, then warm water and lavender wash - rub in with your hands and then wash off.
 
Most of the stain removers are good for getting the worst stains out. Any purple or blue shampoo works well and in the final rinse, for special occasions, one of those little "blue bags" that used to be used on grannys washdays (if you can find them still), or Glow White sachets (usually used for whitening clothing and nets). - Then stand back and Take plenty sunglasses with you to hand out to admirers!!
 
I've got a flea bitten grey and the evening before after he's had a bath, I plaster his legs with chalk powder or make it up into a paste. His legs do look "Daz" white, but by the morning they're not quite so brilliant!! Only thing, if you've oiled the horse's hooves, try to avoid getting any more chalk on them, it runs on the oil and is a b***** to get off!!!
 
I spray on and scrub with nettex stain remover, then wash with normal cheap shampoo, rinse and re wash with red rum white horse shampoo, rinse fully and then use normal cheap human conditioner (keeps the dirt away longer) then rinse fully and spray over with red rum whitener spray to give a nice blue hue!
 
Cowboy magic shampoo. Tried it today and it got rid of my horses stains :) might try daz though as the shampoo is about £10 per bottle (inc.p&p) from eBay.
 
Normal bath and as bex.louise mentioned pile the chalk on! You need to put the chalk on when the legs are wet - loads on until the legs are really pasty. Once dry brush out the chalk. I bath the night before the show and brush off when I get there and tack up. Gives the blingy white socks and is really cheap and easy. Purple sprays work well but be careful if you are using the concentrated blue rinses that you dilute, as mistakes can leave blue streaks!
 
Depending on how much white you have to get sparkly - Mix a container of Curash baby powder with warm water until a soft paste. Then apply to white bits, working well in. I use a toothbrush on legs but you might need something such as a nail brush to work into the white on the body.

Allow to dry and remove excess with a brush. Watch you don't use the brush later on dark areas - leaves a bit of a mess!

Brings white up to super sparkly.
 
What would you suggest for the tail? my flee bitten grey scrubs up lovely, but from half way down to the bottom of her tail it is ALWAYS yellow... any suggestions?

A tail bag!

Wash tail as others have suggested in the various shampoos/dyes etc and do this daily for some time until the tail is the right colour. Also use plenty of conditioner. Fructis Sleek & Shine for course rebellous hair is brillient for horses (Shampoo & the conditioner)

The tail bag will protect it all the time so there will be no yellow pee stains on it.
 
Touch of Silver, you'll find it in the specialist shampoo sections at the supermarkets ;)

A fraction the price of the equestrian brands and does a MUCH better job!!!!

Nikiska, with tails, also try finding the Touch of Silver conditioning spray. Lovely. Dorey spends the off season with a black tail and the showing season with a shiny white one.

It's the one thing I ALWAYS use, without fail!!!!
