Horse been back hunting for 3 weeks now and before that due to the snow hadnt been washed since mid dec, call me soft but felt bad in the cold weather!! Tail normally really easy to get white using wahl diamond white shampoo, but now its staying a yellowy colour which is annonying!! anyone any tips on how to get it white again??

try washing it in soda crystal solution - just avoid getting too much on any skin as they can be sensitive.....

wash tail once or twice with cheapo shampoo, then soak tail in hot water and vinegar for 5 mins/as long as you can hold bucket up (!), wash with blue or purple shampoo then condition with blonde hair conditioner.

I use very hot water and sainsburys stain remover powder for whites, just make sure it doesn't touch the skin and use plenty of conditioner afterwards as it really strips the hair. I keep my grey's tail permanently knotted up in an argentine polo knot and just take it down for washing and brushing before hunting.

If you are near the beach then go for a trot and canter on the waters edge, brings up white beautifully and you enjoy yourself at the same time

yep it helps. think it must be the grit of sand/salt that ebbs away at the dirt, i also after my beach ride used to use hot water and sea salt.

when that failed and i wanted PURE white, i bought a can of white spray on hair dye from boots... so much less hassle!
