As he didn't looked like he'd rolled in all the mud yet we grabbed him in quickly, tied him up and started looking for his rug but all we could find was bits of fluff from the stuffing - not a good sign.....

Eventually found it totally ripped inside out and definitely not useable by the fence.

So he's got a spare rug on today his rug was only a few months old!!! He'd only been wearing it about 3 months!

Damn good job we don't buy them mega expensive rugs the one he destroyed was a Derby House one!

Aren't they a pain?!?!

My mare managed to get every single strap off a Rambo when I first had her. I sent it off to be fixed and it came back with lovely new straps. Then about a month later some b****rd nicked it off her back in the field!

Roll on summer......

tbh just be glad he managed to slip out of it rather than being caught up to the fence for hours. It is blurdy annoying though because they are so expensive, Winston did the same thing to a 2 week old rug last year and his replacement is nnow badly damaged. We now have just one section of one field that has one strand of barbed wire, havent had chance/money to remove and replace it yet, and 2 of the horses have managed to rip their rugs on it.

Oh god only knows how he did it, i think one of the straps had come undone and obviously that was enough for him to destroy it completely!!

There is only one side of the field that is barbed with with sheep wire but that also has a hedge sort of mixed into the wire and they don't often go over that side.... i dunno he is the worst one we have for trashing rugs though, drives me nuts!

Last winter one of the yard had to bring my girlie in because she was galloping around her field with her rug completely undone (read: straps ripped off!) except for the full-neck fasteners. Apparently it was flying out behind her like a cape and she was nicknamed 'bat chick' for a while!
