Giardia

Yep. Last jrt picked it up drinking from foul puddles. 🙄.

Horrible diarrhoea and took a course of anti biotics to cure. Yes take samples. They’ll ask for them anyway so get ahead of the curve as it were. Took a few weeks to resolve but never got it again

Only with husband from windsurfing in a lake fed by a canal in Belgium. Turned out local farmers chucked their dead livestock into the canal.

He was so ill and everything he tried to eat he felt really nauseous and couldn't.
Took ages to diagnose and get right treatment.

Hope little Daisy better soonest.

Yes. One of mine had it as a puppy. Confirmed with stool sample, and actually took two rounds of treatment to clear. She had bad foul diarrhea with some blood in it. The poor thing. By some miracle our other dog didn't get it, but I did pick up pop and pour boiled water over the poo spot.

Good tip on the boiling water. Thanks

I wouldn’t have her sleeping in your bed, or take her to work, I’d not have any contact with other dogs and exercise really high bio security.
I had it, years ago in Oz, and it was awful.
Hopefully tomorrow you’ll find out she’s just eaten some skanky seabird!

It can be incredibly hard to shift and can need heavy duty drugs to manage. It's also zoonotic as mentioned. But I think you'd definitely know by now!!

Second boiling water on everything (shared bowls and toys too) and dog safe disinfectant.

No experience in dogs but I got the parasite from a visit to St Petersburg…absolutely bl**dy awful sickness and diarrhoea.

I got it from a fish tank. The pump broke so I was blowing air into it temporarily through a straw. Unfortunately I wasn’t careful about which end of the straw I used and I managed to ingest the parasite.

I won’t even describe the colour of the stuff that was coming out of me. I was very, very ill!

Yes, our old JRT had bad diarrhoea for weeks and we went back and forth to the vets who kept saying it was this and that and blaming the food I was giving him etc etc. Eventually saw a different vet who suggested guardia and gave him meds for it and it cleared up straight away. Said he’d probably got it from drinking water from a puddle where a bird had pooed.
