Gift Horse...Have You?

My gorgeous lovely husband bought me a dressage horse from Germany. I had been over and tried him but hubby said he was too expensive. I was heartbroken as my old horse was 27 and too old to do dressage competitively. Then on our first wedding anniversary he gave me a bottle of whisky. I hate the stuff but it slowly dawned on me that he had bought the horse. His stable name is Whisky!!

In an odd sort of way, I finally have my own Gift Horse this Christmas

Since I was 5 years old I have been asking my parents for a pony or a horse for Christmas. Even during the 10 years I spent not riding, I kept up the tradition, and started asking my OH too! He took me a bit seriously and said no every year... when actually, I'd have settled for a soft toy version, LOL!

this year, I started riding again, and this time around, I finally have the money of my own to afford a horse

I started looking at the end of October, and had one sold before I could view it, one viewing where I got off the horse after 3 minutes, and then this last horse I went to see....

Not sure that link works, but he is advert number HM742A482 on Horsemart. On paper, he was my perfect horse, and the first time I rode him I fell in love. Before going to see him, I had told my OH that if he didn't work out I would wait a few months before going to see another horse... but he was perfect!

I got him home 6 days ago, and after 25 years I finally have a horse for Christmas

Yes. My very first pony was a surprise gift. Don't think it was for Xmas, possibly for my 9th or 10th Birthday I think. I had bitched for a pony for years leaving little notes about how Id love a pony and what Id do with it etc. when one day they told me Id got one! I was absolutely over the moon. I remember they wouldn't tell me his name only that it began with "L" and they told me to go and do fetch something from down the bottom of the garden and they'd tell me when I got back - I ran so damn fast thinking of so many names when suddenly I hit "Lucky" and I absolutely knew that was it. How weird! They took me to the yard later that day and he was so stunning. Happiest day ever. I still have him, he's now 20!

I got one for my 16th birthday, She was a 14.2 coloured mare, of a riding school I used to work on, I fell in love with her the day she arrived, the riding school had a lot of people coming up to look and to buy her, I was devastated, I told my mum I didnt want to go horse riding no more as I loved rosie (coloured mare).

Anyway turns out she rang the owner of the riding school, And bought her for me, She had a huge bow on her neck and on her stable. I actually cried I was soo happy I got her, Never forget that.

Mum and Dad bought Nelson for my 16th birthday. I'd had him on loan for 2yrs and he wasn't actually up for sale as such, his owner said if I really wanted him then let her know and we'd sort something out.

Any way, Mum and Dad kept saying no and that I wasn't getting him for my birthday (or at all in fact!) and on my birthday I got normal prezzies then we all went down to turn Nel out. His stable was covered in ballons and a banner - dad said it was the only way he could think of wrapping Nel up

Nel on the other hand wasn't impressed, esp. when the ballons started randomly popping!
