Gift Idea

Well I guess the obvious answer is - a horse, but realistically she may not thank you!

Unless it absolutely has to be a total suprise I'd be inclined to ask her either for some big hints or a few suggestions of what she'd like, if you want it to be horse-based then specify that and as unromantic as it seems it might be an idea to give her some idea of budget!

She is a very advanced rider - but possibly some kind of horse riding experience hmmmmm. Not really a jewellery girl (strange!)

Sorry one lady (+dozen horses) man lol

NOOOO - NO MORE HORSES :D hahaha

Horse stuff is not romantic - but they are her life -budget around £300

I have to be careful how much I give away I know her friends read this forum religiously

£300 would buy you a really nice bridle.. although she might not need one..!

Would she appreciate something girly like the spa day mentioned above or something horsy?

Really nice boots for competing..?

*wishes she had £300 to spend on nice things..*

If her friends read the forum why not ask one of them, after previously swearing them to secrecy, what she (your GF, not her friend) would like for around the £300 mark?

personally I don't like Prestige bridles - I bought a lovely one from sederholm selected last year though (think it was called the Dy'on anatomic flash) - or how about a new stud girth?

hats are tricky cos certain makes fit certain shaped heads better, and I somehow doubt you could take a mould of her head without her noticing (unless she is a VERY heavy sleeper!!)

OK how's this. Go to nice tackshop and ask them to set it up so that you take her there at a prearranged time, they wheel out a bottle of fizz and a card from you with a cheque for £300 in (you'll need to get it there, and some glasses, beforehand) and she gets to wander around and choose herself a gift with you? btw if she tries on breeches and asks if her bum looks big in them "Yes" is NOT the right answer.

Hello.
How about hospitality tickets to an event this year? My OH bought me and my son tickets for the Portcullis Club at Badminton last year as a joint Christmas present. I think they were around £300 for the pair. If you buy two then she can either take you (if you want to go) or a friend. Not just Badminton - most big equestrian events (and I mean showjumping, dressage and eventing) will have some type of hospitality. And even if she normally goes to the show, having members tickets is special. Hope that helps.

^^^^ This!

I've spent a bit of time wondering what I would like my boyfriend to buy me for a budget of £300 for my horses and came to the conclusion that I would prefer to choose it with him rather than be "surprised". But then I'm very very very fussy about kit being just right.

What about a photoshoot of her pony(ies)? I'm talking about a real decent art photographer who doesn't just take pictures of "horse grazing in field", "rider on horse", etc. One who does really clever shots to capture the beauty and essence of the animal. It's an experience for the day but also she'll have something precious to keep at the end of it.

this would be fab and highly recommend Matthew seed for the job...he does the queens horses ect. and if you check out his website his images are amazing! well worth the money! (my other half will kill me for that as he is a equine photographer (and he is not matt seed)!!!) Matt seed def worth the money though.

A nice day out somewhere?

Maybe Racing at Cheltenham Festival in March - ladies day maybe get her an outfit for it too, or Aintree Grand National in April or the Windsor Horse Show Dimond Jubilee in May or a day at the polo with a few glasses of champers!

Orrrr... what about arranging said friends to take care of the horses one weekend and booking a romantic weekend away? I would love that!!!
