Mine travelled four and two years ago, and both were eating when they arrived, so that rule must have changed.

I have recently used Gillies to transport a horse over from Ireland and was very pleased with the service. My young horse arrived calm and happy. I was amazed to read the comments above about the rude and unhelpful lady in the office- but seems that she has now retired- I spoke with Phillipa Gillie in the office to arrange the transport and she couldn’t have been more pleasant and helpful; she also kept me informed of progress.throughout the journey. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again.

It was Jane in the office when I used them, well not the first time as that was Eric and he was very helpful and nice to deal with. I used them twice more and had to deal with Jane, I said I'd never use them again after my first dealing with her but gave them a other chance and wont ever again. I sold a horse down south and the buyers used EG too. They told me they had a horrible experience dealing with her too.
I will say that the drivers have all been lovely in my experience (4x) and couldnt have done more even when the horse I sold decided that he couldnt possibly load. The driver backed the massive truck up to a cattle loading bay so horse could walk straight on with no dramas.
When my poor wee mite arrived in 2014 the driver was really lovely checking that I was ready for the shock of how emaciated he was and taking all the time with him.
Good news if she has now retired and been replaced by someone customer focused. It would be a nice novelty not to be spoken at in that manner or shouted at by the person that you are paying money to for a service!
