Girl killed by her own horse

R.I.P Laura, and sympathy to the family. What a sad loss at such a young age
At least her family are not blaming the horse and understand that accidents can happen and the horse will be kept.
Lovely that friends will all be wearing full riding gear.

Thoughts to Lauren's family and friends.

I heard about this earlier today because my mother in law lives in Linlithgow and her cleaning lady is going to the funeral - naturally MIL and FIL are worrying about me and my daughter as we have a horse. However, as I told her, accidents can happen in anything and we could all just as easily be run over while out shopping. If we were always scared of accidents then we would do nothing in our lives.

RIP Lauren.

How close have so many of us come to being gravely injured in the course of doing everyday, without hardly thinking about it, horse chores?

Figjam, thank you for the less sensational (although possibly more heartbreaking) version. I know only too well how twisted these things can get, and regard for relatives and their feelings has again been completely overlooked in the media's constant striving for sensationalism. I so much prefer your version. In spite of it making no difference to the devastating outcome, it puts her and the horse in a much softer, more probable light. We horse owners will identify far more closely with it and see the tragedy of it even more.

God bless you and take care of you, Lauren. Sadly for too many of us, there are plenty of young horsewomen to keep you company x

Thats so sad,had me in tears reading that. So upsetting all everyone and she was so young. There are loads of accidents with horses, look what happened to Christiphor Reed.
RIP Lauren.
