ok so girls what do you do when its your time of the month lol
do you still ride or what?
and what happens if you come on at the yard and have nothing??

what does everyone do?
thanks
[embasing subject i know i know lol]

i've always ridden when it's that time... its only a natural thing, you can't let the whole world stop whilst you're on!
and if you have nothing at a yard, just use toilet tissue!
(yes i know its an embarassing subject, but at least it's natural :D)

Still ride of course! :D Keep a few spare tampons in a little makeup bag in the tackroom or in your grooming kit. :P It doubles as a medication bag where you can keep tablets and plasters too :D xx

I know! it's really hard to know what to do, because mines really irregular, so i don't want to be competing or something when i'm on, so it makes planning difficult. I tend to just ride in brown jods, i hate riding in cream/beige when i'm on, i get really paranoid! But sometimes i have really bad period pains any so i don't feel like riding. Haha yeah embarrassing subject much! But it's the same for all female riders, and you just have to put up with it i guess. :)

Yep,why wouldnt you?

Make sure you have something ;) Not hard to keep a couple of pads/tampons in your yard bag and unless you are very young, you would have a rough idea when you will be in need of them anyway.

Of course I ride :) Loo roll if nothing else, does the job. If it is around your time of month then wear a *just in case* pad ;) When competing I always use a pad and a tampon, just to feel more secure in that department!

Ditto everything said. My job so have to! But the yard's at home so it's not that bad :)

More the pain that gets to me, stock myself up on taking painkillers before the 'stomache tearing open' feeling starts. Luckily, riding is the only thing that shifts the pain, so works out fine.

Hunting and shows are the worst, cream jods make you feel extremely paranoid!

Firstly its only embarrassing if you make it be!

Secondly, tampons all the way. And normally a panty liner if I'm riding and feeling a bit nervous/heavy.

When I was only using pads, I just didnt ride!

I seem to have managed to 'synchronise' with the dressage comps I go too. I really don't look forward to white jodhs - but no accidents yet. I still ride using pads - never did get on with tampons.

Ditto what everybody else has said, just keep spare tampons/pads in the tack room/in you bag/in your car or wherever.

When I worked on a yard I still rode when it was the time of the month, now I'm not working with horses and just got mine It depends as I do get really pains, If i feel fine I ride, If i feel like I ambeing stabbed in the tummy i dont lol!

Having experienced major chafing on a 15 mile ride last year, I now only use tampon + mini panty liner.

Once when I was younger, I wanted to go for a hack but didn't have a spare pad, so I rode to a friend's house, got her to hold my pony while I ran inside and sorted myself out :D

I always ride dont let it stop me doing much, i keep supplies at the yard incase, nothing worse than being caught out, mind you i get severe cramp in my right knee the night before i come on so i get fair warning

of course :) stock up on the ibuprofen (dont get period pains just really bad back ache when im on?!). And make sure you are organised :)

Double knickers, it sounds strange but two pairs and a sanitairy towel = no accidents (yet) I usually keep a spare in my horse riding bag, luckily I also have female RI's who have lent out pads before and the entire team is girls/women anyway so we all know and have to deal with it.

I get no warning, although I'm usually pretty regular so I can usually find supplies somewhere. I seem to keep tampons in my car, my motorbike leathers, my tackroom, the lorry, my boss's car (he takes it in good humour, bless him!!) Just about everywhere!!!!

So it never stops me. still ride, but can't use pads, they always stick if I ride in them and hurt like hell to remove lol!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Of course, doesn't stop me doing anything. I hardly notice it, like my mother I am light and suffer zero pain (:P)!! Always make sure I have supplies on me, then I can't be caught out. :D

Nothing to be embarressed about either, like the others said. We all know about it and have to deal with it.

I always keep some emergancy suplies, i am irregular and come on with no warning, when i was a bit younger i came back from a ride to discover i'd come on. Not good as there were no toilets on that yard. I had to use a tail bandage, ( had no gamgee) Now i always make sure i have something in my tack box, plus i always keep my first aid box fully supplied! :)

put some emergency spares in your horses first aid kit and then you will never be without.

i went on the pill at 15 so i could control when it happened and avoid clashing with big shows, and that really helps as im never caught out, i always know when its going to happen.not for everyone i know.

i always still ride, but tampax all the way, never got on with pads.

Well I only noticed what should have been the most morbidly embarassing stain on my white jods AFTER completing a SJ round with a number of spectators. No one said a word, why would they?! It happens, it's really not that embarassing, just don't worry about it!

I still ride but make sure I have tampons with me......have bad experience of chaffing after riding with pads! :o

ditto the tampon/pads in the first aid kit.....and some in the lorry just incase when at shows!

Hysterectomy! Would highly recommend it!

Beforehand I was having extremely severe probs in 'that' dept, and now it's all gone away! Wonderful!

I have PCOS, so no warning and go from 0 - 60 in a matter of seconds!
Most embarrassing moment? Halfway through a days huntingm couldn't go home as I was qualifying a pointer, so, when we finally galloped through a friend's farm, I shoved my horse in the general direction of their groom, ran into the tack room, stole some Animalintex, then barged into his house! Got some very funny looks, but managed to save my Pikeur breeches, which was all I was really worrying about. Took bloody ages to find the hounds again....
