Hi,

My horse has recently sustained an injury to his stomach around his girth area (tried to jump his field gate and got caught...). It left him having to have around 60 stitches and a lot of time off. He's still recovering so I'm not even considering riding him yet, but I want to be prepared for when I do!

So my question is... What do people find to be the best girth cover? I need one which will be very soft. Money isn't a worry at this stage as i'll have some time to save whilst he's off and I want the best for him!

Thanks for your help!

I use a Le Mieux lamb skin girth sleeve on my mare, its really lovely and soft and as long as you wash it in proper wool wash it should stay that way - i've had mine a couple of years now and it is still as soft as when I bought it. My mare has very sensitive skin and is prone to getting sore behind her elbows, especially if I use a non leather girth, but we've had no problems at all since using her girth sleeve.
