Looking for a brown girth, which is preferably not leather, and doesn’t have elastic. It needs to be quite wide.
I do love the Kieffer neoprene, but they’re impossible to get in brown. Have tried the Stubben string ones, and am not their biggest fan.
The tapestry girth looks really good, but I’d rather spend under £100, if possible.
Any other thoughts or suggestions please, are welcome!

I'm planning to get a Professional's Choice Ventech - they come in brown. Have a short one at the moment and horse seems to like it, perhaps more than the very pricey Wow FreeSpace....

I have just got a tapestry girth. Couldn't get one secondhand so got one new. My fussy girl seems to love it. Only a week in but already noticeably less girthy. Also works brilliantly on my Irish cob who needs more saddle stability - I am thinking of getting her one too! Maybe next month ?

Thanks all.
it is a long one I need (46”).
I love the look of the tapestry girths, but they are so expensive.
maybe I need to look out for a second hand one.

I have realised far too late that what my horse is reacting to is the uneven pressure on her sternum. Fussy mare let's me know. Placid mare just what we used to call puffs out (but muscle tenses).

Neither liked string girths.

I've had posh anatomical girths on both but now realise that they backload the pressure. A prolite was awful. The anatomical Harry Dabbs which I thought was ace was equally bad as it has two webbing straps running through so the pressure was in a small area.
AH anatomical super soft was the best I could find but fussy mare was loads better but still not happy.

Tried a scharf but wasn't convinced it was worth the money so sent it back.

couldn't find a second hand le tixerant the right length to try. (I have a 135 if anyone is looking)

I've got a Ventech professional choice second hand and that works well on placid mare. It's over stretched - but they are £90 new which I find astonishing. You can get them second hand - they are elastic. If you are buying one second hand ask to see photos of the buckles on both sides. Some of them have been so overstretched the girth is now longer. I got stung on this ??‍♀️. I've just bought a decent second hand one as new for £40.

For me the tapestry is worth the money. I am going to test it for a full
Month before getting a second for my other horse. I have wasted so much money on this girth journey. I thought I would share to save you the same. ??I've finally got there.

Thanks for your very detailed reply WFHP. My current Mare is quite sensitive, hence the kieffer, which is great as I can still use it daily, but its not ideal being black, and tack brown, for shows.
I may hold on, then, to see if the tapestry one helps your mare, if you don’t mind updating once you are either happy or unhappy with it!
thanks.
