Hi .......... went to get a new girth today, i was having a look at the Thorowgood GP girths. There were 2 types one with the elastic at one end and the same style girth but without the elastic (on the label it had a cob sticker on). Was chating to the lady working and she said that the girths with out the elastic are better also Im buying it for a tb and the label had cob on - would this make any difference? Just wondered what peoples opinions were?

Hope this makes sense and i haven't rambled on too much hehe

hi, the cob ones are done without elastic to stop any slipping of saddle- i had a thorowgood person out this week. if its tb then you should be fine with elasticated one. their thoughts are cobs tend to be big and flat backed meaning saddle slips more, non elasticated girth can help with this!

As a saddle fitter I would always go for non elastic. Thorowgood Cob is the one I would definately recommend. Elastic on one side can easily let the saddle fall to one side especially if the horse is different in his muscles behind the shoulder, and most horses are. Also if a rider sits to one side the elastic will stretch with the rider and the saddle has more chance of sitting off centre. No elastic all the way.
