I bought some very expensive synthetic girth called a 'humane' girth for my horse - but avoid them!
It had a neoprene backing, which was removable and washable, and a more normal girth part which fastened on to it. I took my TB out for a 30ish minute walk hack - and it had cut her like a knife wound in that time.
I do use the other 'humane' type - with the sliding join between the buckles, and she seems to like it.

We've always used leather girths, but when I bought my dressage saddle last year, we found that a normal straight cut dressage girth rubbed Ellie really badly. I've now got a Stubben string girth, and it's wonderful! She hardly sweats at all underneath it; I've been really pleased with it!
well iv always used aerborn but since getting a nice wintec i treated myslf to the matching girth i havent rode in it yet so ill bbk on later to update lol!

I've got one of those Shilasdair. Didn't like it when it arrived as I was sure it felt a bit "hard" on the edges. Never used it.

I can't remember the make as I took it back...but it was a flat sheet of neoprene, I think, with velcro attaching it to the girth proper.
I took it back....the saddler almost refused to take it as it had blood on it...but then I think I scared him as I was furious, and it was dear for a synthetic.

We use the Aerborn humane girth and it's really the only one naughty pony is happy with!

I've always wanted a string dressage girth but when I looked at the stubben I couldn't figure out where you'd put the girth straps?
I've always used leather girths but I cover them with sheepskin for comfort (and cos it looks cool
) The humane girths are fab and you can now buy them in leather but I find on chubby ponies they caused my saddle to roll
Stubben Cord Girth. Very comfy for the horse as they're very wide and airy.
I used to use the humane girths but were told by a saddler they are too narrow and have pressure points at the rings..
I've got a thorowgood one, George seems happy with it, but I don't like that it only has elastic at one end - may need to invest in a new one.............
Stubben Cord girth for me. I was also told by a saddler that the humane girths are too narrow and have pressure points at the rings as we used to use them.
