I left pony's girth at home on Sunday and didn't discover till we went to tack up just before the first class, running late as usual. Two sets of kind lovely people at show lent us a girth - one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Sooo nice when people do things like that - I thought poor daughter was going to have to go home without riding.

Anyway rush to buy spare girth (or two). Any recommendations? Little ponio has an old girth gall from before we got him and has very sensitive pink skin. He currently has a wintec whch is ok, but he usually wears it with a sheepskin sleeve. Would like a white one for shows as he is grey (well white) and perhaps a cheapy just for emergencies to keep in the trailer.

Any ideas? Stuben stringy one? Main thing is not looks, but his comfort.

I wouldn't go for a stringy one (I hope I have got the right kind in my head) because they are not the best at distributing the pressue evenly. A decent leather one should be a good buy, provided it's kept soft clean and supple. And make sure the girth sleeve (which I'm sure you do!) is also clean as bits of dirt/sand will rub and possibly cause sores and bumps.

I quite like the Aerborn Humane girth but not had alot of variety so sure there are others who can advise. There are so many girths out there!

ive been recommended the stringy one and am ordering it, comes in white and is supposed to be soft

My friend has a gorgeous gel filled on for her sensitive pony but I have absolutely no idea of the make! its got a lovely covering to it that doesn't rub when it gets sweaty.

I aksed a question the other week in stable yard the other week - we have found the Kieffer style neoprene covered webbing is the one that works on our mare (well ours is a Lidl one!)

Thanks everyone. I will look in stable yard for the other thread.

Spangle when you get your stuben stringy girth can you let me know what you think?
