Girth recommendations please!

I'm on the look out for a new girth but have a fairly specific criteria that needs to be met. Just wondering if anyone could recommend a girth that would meet all of the following criteria:
1. Anatomical or ideally a crescent shape
2. Non elasticated!
3. Comes with or has a wool girth sleeve that can be purchased separately

A Mattes girth has been recommended but I'm nervous of ordering one as apparently I need to measure my horse and I'm famously incompetent with taking measurements! His current girth is 46 inch and he's a 15hh cob with a forward girth groove and a short back.

How high up does your current girth do? The best length is the shortest you can get done up, usually a hole is an inch, so this should tell you what you need (and bear in mind your current girth may have stretched, so measure it to include the whole buckle both ends). Mattes are lovely girths, they are sheepskin which IMO is better than wool fleece.

Thank you. Current girth goes to the fourth hole on both sides (this is with using a Nuumed girth sleeve).

It's more about how high it goes when you first do it up, as I say you go to the shortest girth you can do up onto the first holes on both sides.

Ah OK- see I am a bit incompetent!
With the girth sleeve it will go to first holes or maybe second on one side to start with , without sleeve it should go onto second holes to start with.
Does that indicate that I should go for the next size down from my usual 46inch in the Mattes girth ?

At an inch per hole you'd be in danger of not being able to get it done up, though you should measure yours, they do stretch.
