Hi

I currently have my horse in a prolite girth but find her girth is constantly slipping back and after a ride it's just way too far back from where it’s supposed to sit.
I have attached a photo, i’m not really sure what sort of girth groove she has. The saddler never suggested anything when she last came and i have another fitting booked for 3 weeks time but just wondering what people’s thoughts are on what i could try using on her in the mean time?
Fyi her saddle is a john Whitaker overton jump saddle.

When you tack up,.are the girth straps pointing straight down?
And sorry for the daft question but are you definitely putting the girth on the right way ? So the point of the curve is towards the horse's front?

The photo doesn't show it clearly (for saddle fit and related issues a full body shot is always a good base line) but I'd say your horse probably has no real groove. More an eventer sort of shape? The Prolite isn't the solution to all ills, far from it, I would look at the Le Tixerant and the Mattes Athletics.bit also make sure your saddle isn't too wide at the front, in the middle, or is too low in front.

What girth strap set up does the saddle offer? On a saddle with point, two middle, and a balance strap, 2 and 4 would be a good set-up to try.

The Stubben cord girths are really good for more forward girth grooves where curved girths aren't working.

I've just changed from a cord girth to the Ventech and I think that's excellent.

If you're sticking to a curved or shaped girth I recommend the shires Arma supafleece range. I usually hate 'fluff' on horse stuff but borrowed one and horse seemed to love it and it didn't slip at all.
