So for the first time ever pony has rubbed hair in the same place on both sides. Pic below. This has happened today (sharer hacked). Definitely was not there yesterday.

I’m obviously not down today but tomorrow plan on tacking her up to see exactly what it is that has rubbed. I’m guessing the fact she is so sweaty contributed. No idea why she is so sweaty, I know it’s warmer than has been (she’s only got a tiny clip down her neck) but it’s same temp as yesterday and mum schooled with a fair bit of canter and she wasn’t even puffing let alone sweating. She’s not as keen hacking alone so maybe was a bit tense and this contributed to sweating up.

Sharer says she just went on a relatively short walk hack with one canter (if she did the route I think she did then looking at an hour, relatively flat just through fields) and girth went up to same holes I use.

Pony otherwise fine, eating etc as normal.

She said she didn’t pull her leg forward which I don’t really tend to do either but I do always run my hand down to make sure no skin is caught.

I’ve never had issues with her girth before, I’m guessing all I can do is keep an eye on it and maybe look at a girth sleeve?

Mine gets very similar rubs from her Prolite girth when her coat changes.

I tend to change her into a different (softer) girth and use a sleeve until the hair grows back over it. I wouldn't ride though if the skin was broken or she seemed irritated/in pain.

Ooh coat change, could be that! Just bizarre she’s never had this before. Skin isn’t broken yet but definitely do not want that to happen so think she’ll have a little holiday! If sharer is desperate to ride she can ride bareback. Thanks!

I would still keep an eye on saddle fit, mine is less than perfect, saddler booked.

Coat change times show where stuff is less than optimal, where there is more rub, so it is worth double checking. Once the coat has changed the indicator will disappear again.
