girth sores

Can anyone recommend a girth for a thin skinned TB who gets a sore armpit?!! presently in a thorogood elesticated girth which i have used on my old horse for ages and really liked but not so great for this one.
Have been advised to get a string one but thought these were a bit "old school" and not really used anymore??
Any idea's
 
I posted same sort of thing few weeks ago peeps on here told me to get a stubben Trevira girth.

I have its not arrived yet. Well worth the money if it will help. I have to wait for the sores to heal first and he is on a week off after having the back man out. So hopefully everythin will be fixed and it will have arrived to try it. If you do a search on here put in lozhug about 5 or 6 down one about girth sores have a look.
 
I have a stubben trevira girth and it worked for a while, but when he really started to lose his coat it wasn't so good. I also have a prolite girth sleeve which has been fab and he has been fine in that. Having said that it did rub some hair off today, but i think it may have been slightly damp so I have brought it home to wash and thoroughly dry. It is a right pain having a horse/pony who is prone to girth rubs. I have also found that switching about from one girth to another helps. Sheepskin girth sleeve worked for a while, but not so good when he gets sweaty. Honestly the prolite sleeve has been the best. Also just waiting till the coat settles down.
 
When I had a TB (years ago) I had the same problem. Someone advised me to put something on her skin when it didn't have sores to toughen it up and it did work. Unfortunately, I can't remember what is was - sorry.
