Hello,
My dressage saddle has replaceable girth straps (metal rings come from the saddle, leather strap has a nylon loop that the strap pulls through to secure). The manufacturer has kindly sent replacements, however, while they have the correct length leather, the affixed nylon length is incorrect for the rear strap and contains a metal ring, rather than the loop in the nylon. As I have undertaken many leather projects in the past, I am keen to give this a go myself.
I intend to obtain a new length of nylon (as the attached has several sets of stitching already through it that would need to be undone and I imagine weaken the nylon overall), hand saddle stitch with two needles and threads crossing over.
Might anyone with experience in this area be able to advise on the most appropriate thread to use?
Many thanks in advance,
Becca
