Kal has lost so much weight (and gained so much topline) that his leather girth didn't fit him properly . . . was on top hole both sides . . . so I went girth shopping this morning. In addition, he was veeery girthy - bit me a couple of weeks ago when I was girthing him up and routinely grinds his teeth and pulls faces when I first fasten the girth, no matter how gentle I am - and as I've recently had his saddle refitted and had his back done, I'd ruled out the big things. I did think about buying a Stubben string girth but my tack shop was fresh out - so I bought a Stubben neoprene girth. Hey presto! No grinding of teeth, no ugly faces, no filthy looks - not even a lifted back leg! Hurrah!
