What would you recommend for a very forward girth groove, have tried many different girths including show girths, Atherstone ,regular, string girths and others but none have stopped the girth ending up to far although saddle dosn't move.

I don't remember where I saw it but whilst cruising the Internet recently, I came across a shaped girth specifically for this issue. I'll see if I can find it again.

As above a shaped girth, or somebody said to me for my daughters previous pony with forward girth groove, to use a stud girth that seemed to help.

I used a sticky girth on my pony, it was supposed to stay in place. Was recommended by saddler. It still had to be really tight but was better.

My lad has a forward girth line and he's quite sensitive as well, ive ust ordered him a neoprene on with a gel insert which helps the pectoral muscles, hopefully it will be here Monday.
Im currently using the wintec with cair which has been ok but just wanted something a bit softer.
Peter Maddsion-Greenwell does a lovely curved girth, i have one which i may consider selling, its the most beautiful leather and it hasn' had allot of use.
I think Frank Baines does one as well
Here's peter's website so you can have a look. :-)

one of the ergonomic ones work well on our arabx, I think the best quality leather you can afford is better, didn't work for my welshie (we have two with forwards grooves!) as it rubbed his elbows.. he is best with a synthetic atherstone with elastic at both ends.

What issues is this actually causing? If the saddle stays put then that's obviously fine, but the girth will pretty much always end up in the girth groove wherever that may be. I will say that even Atherston designs vary - most designs have a very narrow stiffer central band - the kinder and gippier ones that I stock have a wide shaped central panel plus very soft padding. Oh and good strong elastic on both ends can also make a difference.

SBloom- I just worry even though the saddle stays put the girth will always stray forward virtually into the backs of her legs which i imagine is not entirely comfortable for her and even though she dosnt complain would prefer it to not happen. The atherstone has been most successful but still not stopping it from happening, ive tried the strong elasticated both ends girths and they have seemed worse to me.

I have this problem with my old boy and found that a shaped girth worked wonders. I use the jaguar synthetic one and love it. They also do a leather version.
