Girths and girth sleeves

there may be a really obvious answer to this, but I don't know... Is there any reason why you can't use a dressage girth sleeve with a shaped GP girth? I only really want the fur to come up to the horse's elbow rather than up to the saddle flaps. Would it be ok?

You can get normal ones in all sorts of lengths - rather than a dressage specific on just get a shorter normal one so it comes where you want it to - mine only comes to elbows - I'd have thought if they came up to the flaps they'd interfere with your leg?
